Anxiety has taken over your life. You notice the tension in your face and jaw more and more, almost like you look angry or unhappy all the time, and you don’t like this change in yourself. The shortness of breath can come out of nowhere, leaving you feeling unsettled and unsure of what’s happening. It’s like you’re constantly gripping, holding onto tension throughout your body, with a tightness in your stomach before you even start your day. You feel so far away from your old self—the one who used to laugh easily and feel light. Now, it feels impossible to slow down or change how you operate. Your mind is in a million places, and it’s hard to sleep. When you do wake up in the middle of the night, it takes hours to get back to sleep, as your thoughts run on repeat, making it impossible to quiet your mind.

You are stuck in an anxiety loop night and day

During the day, you may find it difficult to focus on anything other than the endless list of things you need to be doing, things you could be doing, and the things you’ve messed up. You might replay conversations over and over, worrying that something reflected poorly on you, and feel the pressure to do everything perfectly while keeping everyone happy. Asking for help feels impossible, even though you know you should. It just seems easier to do it all yourself because you feel you should be able to handle everything. You compare yourself to others and think everyone else is able to get by so so should you. But deep down, you might be realizing that you’re unhappy—maybe even sad sometimes—despite having a good life with so much to be grateful for. The weight of anxiety feels heavy, making it hard to make decisions, connect with your loved ones, and be present in your own life. It’s like you’re losing confidence in yourself as a parent, partner, and friend, and you don’t want to miss out on your life anymore.
